19/12/2016AirRoad among first in Australian transport and logistics industry to achieve ISO 9001:2015 certification

December 2016, Lidcombe NSW: All major depots owned and operated by national transport and logistics company AirRoad are now certified to the latest ISO 9001: 2015 standard. In addition, it will be more than twenty years since AirRoad’s main facility in NSW introduced a quality management system certified to ISO 9001.

ISO 9001 is the internationally recognised standard for the quality management of businesses. The 2015 standard is the latest version and a major revision to the previous 2008 standard. It introduces many new concepts, terminology and current thinking, drawing on the collective resources of many other standards. Part of this revision includes greater accountability from senior management and integration of the quality system into the business’ core processes and procedures.

AirRoad’s Managing Director, Malcolm Thorpe, says, “The requirements of this international standard are accepted by AirRoad in maintaining consistent quality levels across all aspects of our business. By achieving certification to the latest version of ISO 9001, we have demonstrated our commitment to providing a leading-edge service to our clients and their customers."

The scope of AirRoad’s Quality Management System covers its national distribution activities with DIFOT performance reporting and the provision of logistics operations. AirRoad’s quality culture depends not only on systems with reliable, external monitoring, but also on their dedicated staff following procedures and working together to continue to improve them. In addition, trained AirRoad personnel conduct regular audits of performance and procedures to review their systems for continuous improvement.

During the recent audit, no non-conformances were identified with the certification covering the company’s depots in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.
