March 5 2025

As Cyclone Alfred approaches, we would like to keep you informed about our operational plans to protect our staff, fleet and your goods. The cyclone is forecast to make landfall tomorrow or Friday morning, with damaging wind gusts, storms and heavy rainfall expected to impact a large warning zone spanning Queensland and NSW.

To limit risk, we intend to hold freight till conditions improve. Please be advised of the following service disruptions:

QLD
Brisbane

Cyclone Alfred is expected to hit the south of Brisbane in the early hours of Friday, 7th of March. Many businesses are expected to be closed on Thursday and Friday.
We anticipate that our Brisbane depot and operations will be closed on Friday. The Wednesday linehaul service from Melbourne will be held. Our Sydney Operations team will wait till Thursday afternoon, before deciding to forward goods to our Brisbane depot.

Sunshine Coast
• Wednesday, March 5th: No Pickups. We will be suspending all freight collection services today.
• Thursday & Friday, March 6th & 7th: Operations Suspended. We anticipate a complete suspension of all pickups and deliveries on Thursday and Friday. Our team will be focusing on personal safety and preparedness during this period.
• Potential Early Fleet Return – Wednesday, March 5th: The Bureau of Meteorology has issued warnings of intensifying gale-force winds. Should conditions deteriorate rapidly, we may be required to recall our fleet to base for the safety of our drivers and equipment. This may result in further service disruptions and delays.

Townsville
Our Mackay-Townsville service is experiencing delays due to an accident that had closed the Bruce Highway overnight. The highway has re-opened and minor delays are expected.

Northern NSW
A wide area ranging from Grafton as far as Coffs Harbour is expected to flood. Delays are expected in this region.

We thank you for patience and support as always. We are actively monitoring the situation in the impacted regions and will keep you updated.
Regards,
The AirRoad Team
